Kingston is a wonderful place, ripe with culture and artistic expression. However just like most towns in the UK, the need for more vape huts outweighs the need for a studio a young artist had been saving for, the same as a five-story Primark trumps any need for an established creative to continue work in their arts building across the street. It seems like we are forgetting the roots of this town, all for what we deem as being 'progressive'. The staples of our town become forgotten, pushed to one side as Eden Walk expands. Everything around us suddenly operates from 9 to 5. We forget that we ourselves are 24-7. People are 24-7. Art is 24-7.
This website, therefore, serves two aims. Primarily, KNACK functions as your informative news site on all Kingston's art and cultural events. Yet this site is also to honour the creatives in our borough, to remind us who they are and what they do, and shine a light on a part of Kingston that has been sealed away behind construction works and men in suits.
